I got an official statement from youtube that my youtube app does not confirm to the youtube terms of use. So i made a camtasia record to show it here. I think this app shows well how Flex and Zinc can be combined for rapid application development and it`s a nice example of an occasionally connected client. I hope that the same type of applications will also be possible with apollo. Here a the key feautures:
– Search Youtube
– Display Videos in a Custom (not Youtube) Player.
– Save Videos Offline
– Organize downloaded Videos in categories
– Export downloaded Videos to ordinary AVI files and save them on your machine.
I hope that youtube will make their service more open soon. I think one big point at the moment is that they need to place their ads and such an app prevents this. Maybe they could open the service under the restriction that you display ads from them in your app. Those ads could be updated everytime the app goes online.
man ! tht was awesome!
sad that they prevent you from shocasing this online
[perhaps you should upload this viideo to youtube]
Good idea! I did it it`s here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q-EtYAHqnQg
Nice work Benjamin.
If the content is in the public domain and people can figure out how to show it without ads like you have done, you should be allowed to have your app online. Do the television networks sue cable companies for providing DVRs that allow consumers to skip the commercials?
Hi. I was wondering if you could send me some details about what to parse to get the URL of the flv video file. I can’t find out the video naming convention used. Thanks.
Hi there,
I need to make something similar with Flex 2 and Zinc for my studies and wanted to ask, if we could exchange ourselves. Please write me an email, if you are interested. Thanks a lot in advance.
Best regards,
Pascal
Greetings.
I was also wondering if you could send me some details about what to parse to get the URL of the flv video file. I can’t find out the video naming convention used.
Thanks.,
Mike
I am interested in the URL details as Mike above. Can you e-mail them? I am trying to build a custom player. Thanks.
can we have the mxml files? pretty please
Sorry but youtube won`t allow it. Too sad i would have loved to release the code so people can learn something from it.
Do you know to/can you? get around the age verification page for inappropriate videos? the “t” parameter needs to be extracted, but I cannot figure out how to get past this.
Also, what are you using to save the videos offline.
Thanks
Stu.

are you open to do freelance flash development work
Thanks
Denny
Like Mike and David, I’m interested in the FLV URL’s. Could you please e-mail me?
See this threads comments for a brief explanation,

Hi guys,
The “t” parameter extraction is actually very simple. More complex is getting accurate video length because this data is not always included in the NetStream return data. I have a similar player on my page: http://www.peabee.com/blog
Oh, and I should mention that although YouTube can send you letters till they’re blue in the face, they don’t have the authority to control content since it doesn’t belong to them. The most they can do is ask you to stop using their network but since they allow embedded playback anyways, their argument on that end is very weak.
good idea…i just use the default one…maybe i’m too lazy
RichTube is 404 – try JustWatchVideos.com – Flex playing YouTube…
